... but I would add this wine is absolutely DELICIOUS! - 2005 JC Vizcarra Tempranillo Ribera del Duero
As a habit, after tasting a wine I often read the winery’s description on the bottle. Most often I agree or should I say I disagree with 50% or more of the description. On this bottle the description read: “Deep purple-red, with aromas of red wild berries and toasted notes. On the palate it is rich and dense, with polished texture and ripe fruit. Its finish is long and complex.”
Once in a hundred or more times I will agree with the winery description. In this case: BINGO. I agree completely … but I would add this wine is absolutely DELICIOUS!
From the first sniff to the last taste this is what wine is all about.
This wine is great on its own or with food (I drank it with Roast Chicken and winter squash) – it’s the kind of wine that you really look forward to tasting.
Frankly, this is what Tempranillo is all about and what is often coming out now consistently from the Ribero del Duero .. really great wine at a very reasonable price (for this level of quality).
The 2004 received a 90 WS and the 2006 a 92. I am so happy that the 2005 was not rated (kept the price lower!!).
Highly recommended … and I am going back for more!
