A nice departure from a typical summer wine - 2007 Domane Wachau, Gruner Veltliner Federspiel Terrassen

A nice departure from a typical summer wine. Flinty with a suggestion of firm peach. The finish: a subtle but intriguing tangle of spices. Certainly different from California whites if you are looking to branch out – it is sharp as opposed to buttery or crisp. A versatile wine for pairing; raw veggie plates and steamed or roasted vegetables that are typically not good matches for wine (think asparagus and cauliflower) pair quite nicely. Main course: halibut.
