If you like fruit forward wines, this one is well made for the price - 2006 - Reilly's Barking Mad - Shiraz

Very dark purple color .. almost black against a light background. Initially the nose is a bit closed but does open in the glass after a few minutes. Solid nose of black fruit such as plum and bilberry as well as some spice (pepper) and perhaps some wood component (cedar). Full bodied with medium tannins. Good balance but just a bit of heat from the 15% abv. Paired well with the pasta … particularly with the sweet Italian sausage. Was able to stand up to the acid of the sauce without being overpowered itself. If you like fruit forward wines, this one is well made for the price. Recommended.
