Koongarra Vineyard - Merlot, 2001, Hunter Valley
This wine has a great nose. The kind of aroma that makes you excited about the taste. But to the taste it's strong. I never thought I'd write about fruit in my reviews, but I can actually taste a little blackberry in this wine. Let it breathe for a few minutes, and then the wine smoothes out a bit. We have it with ravioli. It's too much wine for Italian. Try it with a good steak, and I'm sure you'll be pleased.
