My parents were down for my daughters musical. She was one of the Cheerleaders in the musical Grease. It was quite cute. She is so not a Cheerleader. Anyway, I digress.
My Mom brought down some Hungarian Goulash for dinner. She is so sweet.
My Dad had broken out a bottle of white. I wanted a lighter red. I convinced my Mom to try it with me.
I went for something that would accompany the meaty sauce but not over power it. And my Mom's got a pretty average palet. I didn't want a red that was too over powering. In these situations, when there are lots of people's tastes and many different types of palets to satisfy, I usually reach for a spanish red.
I did the same here.
My mother drank it and was polite. I drank it and thought I had made a superb choice. Then all of a sudden this taste came up and slapped my right up side the head. It was acidy. So much so that you couldn't enjoy the wine.
A good nose, good initial taste, but the finish was surprisingly acidy.
As I said, my mom was being polite. She drank the glass. But she's at least a glass and a half drinker at dinner. The fact that after the meal her glass was empty but had only been filled once told the story.
I would not recommend this wine. I hope my Mom forgives me, and I have to speak to her about being so polite. :-)

Scott
